Hello St. Thomas Families,
I want to first wish you all a very happy start of Summer, but above all, thank you for all the support you have shown our school community this past school year.
I apologize that our school year ended in what may seem like an abrupt manner or with might seems as little communication.. My End of the School Year video message and letter scheduled for this past weekend did not go out. The evening of our Last Day of School, I was rushed to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery to remove my appendix. I have been in recovery since, but very thankful that things are going well. If I may, I ask for all of you to keep me in your prayers.
In light of these unforeseen circumstances, we had to delay a few communications to our families that I now want to provide more information on:
- Summer Food Program will begin on Monday, June 22nd at 8am. If you wish for your children to participate, please complete this survey: https://forms.gle/Fun3zLw2FM2NUHQJ6
- Mandatory Device & Textbook Drop-Off will take place on Thursday, June 25th for 4th-8th grades and Friday, June 26th for TK-3rd grades from 8am-12pm. If you have children in multiple grades, you may select which day to participate. More details about these drop-offs to come.
- Summer Homework information will be sent via email or information can be obtained on the day of Device & Textbook Drop-Off
- Final Report Cards will be mailed directly to your homes by the end of the month.
We are still working on our plan for returning to school in August. As more and more guidelines and requirements develop, modifications have to be made to our Starting School Smart plan. I apologize for this delay, we are looking to have this information out to our families by early July. I do want to share that we will be looking at a multiple phase school reopening. First phase being a hybrid form of instruction, which would allow us to have in-person instruction a few days a week and then distance learning with increased time of live virtual instruction on the days we are away from campus. This first phase will also come with a very strict in-school hygiene and safety routines, as well as, limited to no after school services and activities. Again, all of this tentative and pending the reality of our society and immediate surrounding community in early August as things develop over the summer months.
I continue to ask that we all play our part in helping control this pandemic. Please know that the actions we take at home also influences and plays a role in how our school reopens in the Fall. Please limit your exposure, wear face masks while out of your homes, continue to practice strict hygiene routines, and avoid areas with high concentrations of people. We hope to return to a safe learning community in all aspects, and I rely on our families to do their part so we may in fact be together on campus learning in August.
We will be back on campus as of Monday, June 22nd for limited hours throughout the Summer months. I appreciate your continuous support and trust in the work St. Thomas the Apostle School does for your family. Please have a blessed, safe, and restful Summer.

Primero les quiero desear un feliz inicio de verano, y darles la gracias por todo el apoyo que han brindado a nuestra comunidad escolar este año.
Quiero dar una disculpa, porque se que parece ser que nuestro año escolar terminó de una forma muy abrupta o sin poca comunicación. Este fin de semana pasado deberían haber salido mis comunicados de fin de año y detalles para el verano. Sin Embargo, la tarde del último día de escuela, fui llevado al hospital y sometido a un operación de emergencia para remover mi apéndice. Gracias a Dios, he estado en recuperación y voy mejorando poco a poco. Si me permiten, solo les pido que me mantengan en sus oraciones.
Por las circunstancias presentes, mis comunicados se han atrasado y ahora quiero darles algunos detalles de información:
- El Programa de Comida de Verano empezará el lunes 22 de junio a las 8am. Si quieren que sus hijos participen en el programa, por favor llenen esta encuesta: https://forms.gle/Fun3zLw2FM2NUHQJ6
- Regreso de Tabletas Tecnológicas y Libros a la escuela será el jueves, 25 de junio para los salones del cuarto al octavo, y el viernes, 26 de junio para los salones de TK al tercero de 8am-12pm. Si tiene estudiantes en múltiples salones, puede elegir que día asistir. Más detalles se darán sobre estos días.
- Información sobre la Tarea de Verano se enviará por medio de correo electrónico y también los días que regresen las tabletas y los libros.
- Las Calificaciones de Fin de Año se enviarán a casa por correo al fin del mes.
Seguimos trabajando en el mejor plan para regresar a clases en agosto. A media que nos presentan más guianza y requisitos que seguir, se ve necesario modificar el plan. Me disculpo por la demora en presentarles este plan, nuestra meta es tenerles esta información para principios de julio. Lo que sí puedo compartirles, es que el regreso a la instrucción en persona, será en fases y con medias muy precavidas de higiene y seguridad. La primera fase será una estructura híbrida de aprendizaje, con solo unos días de instrucción en persona y los demás en aprendizaje a distancia con un aumento en las horas de instrucción virtual. De nuevo, todo esto es tentativo y dependiendo de la realidad de nuestra sociedad y comunidad a través de esto meses de verano y lo que se desarrolle alrededor del virus.
De igual forma, les pido que sigan haciendo su parte para ayudar a controlar esta pandemia. Lleven en mente que las decisiones y actos que tomen como familia, directamente influye en cómo regresemos a la escuela en el otoño. Por favor limiten ser expuestos, lleven cubre bocas al salir de casa, sigan sus normas de higiene y eviten estar en lugares con mucha aglomeración de gente. Esperamos regresar a una comunidad de aprendizaje sana y segura, y dependemos mucho en que nuestras familias hagan de su parte para poder regresar a la instrucción en persona en agosto.
Estaremos de regreso en la oficina el lunes 22 de junio con horas limitadas a través del verano. Les agradezco su continua confianza en el trabajo que hacemos para su familia en nuestra escuela. Les deseo un verano lleno de bendiciones.
